Description:

This presentation discusses why it is important for clinical sites working on pain management to understand what is going on in their communities via public health data. Dr. Backonja will discuss social determinants of health (SDOH) related to opioids and what community based data are available that can complement clinical data. One way public health data are being discriminated is through web-based dashboards with data visualizations. Participants will learn about principles of data visualization, challenges, and potential solutions through examples in public health visualizations and that are relevant to clinical data visualizations.
